Oslo tram derails and smashes into shop

Four injured after front carriage ploughs into Apple product store on one of busiest streets in Norwegian capital

 
A tram derailed and crashed through the front of an electronics store in Oslo on Tuesday afternoon, injuring four people, none of whom were seriously hurt.
The tram had been supposed to make a left turn on Storgata Street, but came off the tracks and ploughed into Eplehuset, a shop that sells Apple products, at high speed, a witness told Norwegian media.
Images from the scene showed the front carriage of the tram had smashed deep inside the store, on one of the busiest streets in the Norwegian capital.
Around 20 people were on the tram when it derailed, police said, with the driver among those injured.
Police said it was too early to say what had caused the incident, adding: “We are going to have to conduct inquiries on site by our specialists.”
